Les compléments circonstanciels (circumstantial complements) give additional information about the action expressed by the verb: time, place, manner, cause, purpose, etc.
Examples:
demain, à Paris, avec soin.
In French grammar, a complément circonstanciel is a syntactic function that provides circumstantial information related to the verb: time, place, manner, cause, consequence, purpose, means, condition, concession, etc.
It is generally optional, removable, and mobile within the sentence.
It may be expressed by a noun group, a prepositional group, an adverb, or a subordinate clause.

They indicate when the action happens.
Example: Il arrivera demain.
2. les compléments circonstanciels de lieu
They indicate where the action happens.
Example: Elle travaille à Paris.
3. les compléments circonstanciels de manière
They indicate how the action happens.
Example: Il parle avec soin.
4. les compléments circonstanciels de cause
They indicate the reason for the action.
Example: Il tremble de froid.

They indicate the purpose of the action.
Example: Elle étudie pour réussir.
Il partira demain matin.
